Wolf Alice reminds me a lot of Howling Bells' trajectory in the mid 2000's. They both combine lush melodies with electric dissonance churning beneath compelling female vocals. Howling Bells always seemed held back as Australian outsiders who just missed the late 90's post-grunge boom. Ten years later, Wolf Alice appeared to be on the threshold of indie breakout, only to be blindsided like many performers by the pandemic. Let's hope they get better promotion and support from their new contract with Columbia Records.
